THOUGHTS ON

THE CAUSE OF DEPRESSION

IN THE MENTAL REALM

When extremely painful experiences come, be they betrayal, words of criticism, false accusations, mis-understandings, etc., to one who has not been given the understanding of taking everything to the Lord, he tends to push the memory of them into his sub-conscious, in an effort to diminish the remembrance of the pain.

The mind is like the hard drive on a computer.  It has only a certain number of Bits of Memory within its framework.  The memory of each painful experience utilizes a certain number of these Memory Bits for Storage.  Given this same method of "not dealing" with the negative experiences, the memory of further painful situations gets added to the Hard Drive - UNTIL... one day, the Hard Drive is filled to capacity - leaving no room to store positive input - thus DEPRESSION comes.  DEPRESSION is a mental Hard Drive [or retention area of the mind] filled with painful memories.

The only way to clear the Hard Drive of these painful memories is to release them into the hands of our Heavenly Advocate, as we choose to forgive those involved in the creation of the memories.  As these memories are dealt with and released, more and more space is made available for the storage of positive input and MENTAL HEALTH returns.
