THE FAITH OF GOD

BY: SUNNY ORLY COFFMAN – YEAR 1999

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the

Hebrews 11:6 ...without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe

There is a lot of talk within the believers about faith IN God. We hear about the "Faith Movement". We know faith is important and that God is pleased when we act in faith.

But recently, God began to deal with me about another aspect of faith. He took me to Revelation 14:12 and pointed out "Here is the patience of the saints: here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus." This set me on a search. I found many scriptures referring to the FAITH OF JESUS. I’ve set out a few below:

Revelation 2:13 finds Jesus through John commending the church at Ephesus "..you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith."

James 2:l "My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality."

Philippians 3:9 "...not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"

Ephesians 3:11-12 "According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

Galatians 3:22 "...that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe."

Galatians 2:16 "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Romans 3:21-22 "But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe;"

Romans 3:3 "For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

Habakkuk 2:4 "Behold the proud, his soul is not upright in him; but the just shall live by his faith."

We know that God and Jesus are one from the following scriptures and the teaching of the vine and the branches confirms to us that we are dependent upon being connected to Jesus for life to be produced - for healthy fruit to come forth in our lives.

Jesus said He did nothing except what He saw the Father do and He said nothing except what the Father spoke. So, when we see that we are to walk in the faith of Jesus, we are actually walking in the faith of God, since God is in Jesus and they two are one.

John l0:30 "I and My Father are one."

John 17:20-22 "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

The further I go with the Lord and the better I get to know Him and His ways, the more I realize that IT IS ALL HIM. I HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER. The only way I can be useful is to allow Him full reign in my life - that His total control might mold me into a useful vessel for His service - a dead person without a personal will, except to do the will of the One with the reins.

As I meditated on the above scriptures, I more fully realized that I can’t take credit for having faith. Even that comes from God and, once again, I am totally dependent upon Him for everything. I know for me to have faith pleases Him, but I cannot please Him except He bestow a measure of faith within me to use for His pleasure.

The Father spoke how pleased He was with His Son, Jesus, when He was baptized in the Jordan River by John. And the same rules applied to the MAN JESUS also apply to us. So, if His faith pleased God, it is His faith that I desire so that I, too, can please the Father. Consequently, I have been crying out in earnest to be given the faith that Jesus operated with, the FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST.

Jesus is our example for this earth walk. He is the pattern Son. He is the Last Adam... the perfect man... the head and we are His body. He desires to impart His faith to you and me so that we may please the Father and have victory in our lives.

Would Jesus walk in a weak, watered-down faith? Do you think He had any doubt when He spoke the gold coin in the fish into existence? When the Father spoke all of creation into existence, do you think He had any doubt that it would manifest... that the lights might not come on... that the sun might fail to produce light and heat? He well knew that whatever He spoke would come into being and that it would be perfect.

Wouldn’t you like to walk in that kind of faith? Well, it’s available for the asking and there is only one source. If you don’t have the personal relationship you desire with your Heavenly Father, give me a call. I’ll be happy to introduce you and help you get better acquainted.
