HOW DID WE GET IN THIS MESS?

WHO IS OUR REAL ENEMY?

BY: ROGER DALE COFFMAN and SUNNY ORLY COFFMAN – JANUARY 14, 2001

"The person in right standing before God, by trusting Him, really lives." Rom. 1:17

"As a result of man refusing to worship God, they traded the glory of God, who holds

the world in His hands, for cheap figurines you can buy at any roadside stand." Rom. 1:23

"They traded the true God for a fake god and worshipped the god they made

instead of the God that made them – the God we bless, the God who blesses us. Oh Yes!" Rom. 1:25

"Worse followed. Refusing to know God, they soon didn’t know how to be human either –

women didn’t know how to be women, men didn’t know how to be men.

Sexually confused, they have abused and defiled one another, women with women,

men with men – all lust, no love. And they paid for it, oh how they paid for it –

empty of GOD and LOVE, godless and loveless wretches." Rom 1: 26-27

"Since they didn’t bother to acknowledge God, God quit bothering them and let them run loose.

And then all hell broke loose; rampant evil, grabbing and grasping, vicious back stabbing.

They made life hell on earth with their envy, wanton killing, bickering, God-bashers.

bullies, swaggers, insufferable windbags! They kept inventing new ways of wrecking lives.

They ditch their parents when they get in the way.

Stupid, slimy, cruel, cold-blooded and it is not as if they don’t know better.

They know perfectly well they’re spitting in God’s face. And they don’t care – worse,

they hand out prizes to those that do the worst things best." Rom 1:28-32

Quotations from "THE MESSAGE"

When man refuses to acknowledge and worship God, and chooses to serve self [his own carnal mind’s reasonings], he raises himself up as an idol. A lot of things come forth as a result of this decision:

1. Without God’s direction, man opens himself up to a lot of counterfeits – things that appear to be good, but the end result are death in some form; for God alone is life.

2. Man removes himself, positionally, from receiving many of the blessings that God desires to pour out on him. But for good reason, many blessings have conditions attached to them – not man earning anything, but man simply being in a place of receiving. [Abraham tithed not to just any person coming across his path, but he tithed to Melchizadec, the priest of Salem – the one without beginning or end – without father or mother.] Are the Sons of God not raised up and operating as the Order of Melchizadec?

What are the qualifications of being a Son of God? Do we not have to be led by the Spirit of God? If we are led by the Spirit of God, then God is the one in charge of everything in our hands. Therefore, He can pour unlimited blessing into us – knowing that He has not lost the opportunity to direct the use of those blessings.

3. When man cuts himself off from the wisdom and knowledge of God [being led by His spirit] he is then led by his own soul [mind, will, and emotions]. Thus he is now limited to only the thoughts his own mind can produce, the emotions that he is experiencing, and his own, self-focused will. Many things result from this action:

a. Man’s decisions are made more by his damaged emotions and poor judgment calls are continuously leading

Peace and joy can only be experienced in man’s total trust in his creator – God – the one that never

fails to satisfy all of man’s expectations.

e. Man has a built-in need to help other men. It is a God-given desire, but without God’s direction, it

Again, in our need to help others, but being led by our human reasoning, we are led into acts of "human sympathy" and fed by self-pity being expressed rather than the compassion of God.

How can we get out of the mess we find ourselves in? What will put us on a cooperation course with the Will and Purpose of God for our lives? How can we find the peace and joy we all seek?

The answer is obvious to anyone seeking truth: submitting your will to the will of God, choosing to accept the truth that He is the Creator of the Universe – the one that made you and loves you and has a plan and purpose for your life - will put you in the place of unity and harmony with God. It will also put you in the position of being one with God and opens the door of opportunity of you being a receiver of all the blessings that God promises those that love and trust Him.

As you begin to submit to God, seeking Him daily for answers to all of life’s challenges, you will find your life being directed by Him – rather than directed by your own reasoning and emotions. You will find yourself manifesting the compassion of God rather than the sympathy and self-pity of man. "Compassion doesn’t originate in our bleeding hearts or moral sweat, but in God’s mercy." [Romans 9:15]. God made it plain when He told Moses that he was in charge of both mercy and compassion. As we grow in knowledge of and obedience to God, we will find ourselves making wise decisions and no longer being victims of our own unstable emotional feelings and unreliable carnal reasonings.

There is much talk within religious circles about the enemy of man – Satan, or the devil. But give consideration to the fact that if you are totally united with God, submitted completely to His Will and Purpose, and walking in His peace and Joy, experiencing His Grace and Mercy; mind focused on Him, His Love having overcome your Fear, why would you be concerned with one whose power has been stripped by the Son of God – the one that opened the door of opportunity for you to be fully re-united with your Creator – God?
