He maketh the first old,

                                                That He might establish the new.

                                        We would to the first hold,

                                                'Til we know what He will do.

                                        But if by faith we move,

                                                Eventually we shall see

                                        God doth not need to prove,

                                                Invisible reality.

                                        We ought not ever to place

                                                Our hopes on a transient hour;

                                        Nor mind the man-made vase

                                                Which carries the fading flower.

                                        For the God of the first and the last,

                                                Is God also of all in-between;

                                        Whose fading work of the past

                                                Tells invisible things yet unseen.
