Ministry of Abuse

Why does one stay in a spiritually abusive system? Why does one allow themselves to go through such pain and suffering?

The question can also be asked why a woman stays with her abusive husband when he continues to abuse her. The simple answer is fear.

The wife fears being left alone to take care of herself and her children. She may fear not having a roof over her head or of not being loved by another man, or loving another herself. She may fear rejection by society and many more fearsome reasons come up to cause her to not leave her situation. So she stays in an environment she knows hoping things will change.

The S.A. is no different. He fears going to hell if he leaves. Of having no friends, for all his friends were of the church he attended. He fears the unknown of the world system, that has been implanted into his mind, that will cause him to fall and falter. So he stays in an environment he knows, hoping things will change. But the more things change, the more they stay the same. And so the abused, in both systems, stays, and the pain, sorrow and suffering continues to grow.

Things will change. Tomorrow it will be better. My husband will stop hurting me as soon as he realizes what he is doing. I can take it. And so she stays. You take the shame, intimidation, and the humiliation of that which you know over the fear of the unknown future. Better to remain with the devil one knows, than to move in with one you do not know!

It is often asked of a woman, why? Why do you stay? The reply comes back, " I don't know!" And the S.A. often asks the same question of himself - Why? He feels caught between the rock and a hard place. He feels powerless to leave and fearful of the outcome if he does. He is trapped. The S.A. knows not that they have power to change, for all power is given unto them as they are of the body of Christ, who has all power. They can do All things, through Christ who strengthens them. But they also have been taught to obey them that have the rule over them, for to obey is better than sacrifice. So they obey the rule over the Ruler. They learn to survive the abuse and become the sacrificial martyr to the systems beliefs. And through it all, they are condemned. Condemned by the system, the leaders, the brethren and by themselves.

I don't know why I stay? What's wrong with me? Why can't I get victory over all these sins I commit? Why does God love them and not me? I can't please God and so He punishes me for all the bad things I do and rewards my church brothers because they are better than I am at not sinning! I am nothing in His sight and do not have any peace. I don't even know if I have the Holy Ghost or even if I am saved. But I can't leave or I will surely be lost and headed for hell. I have to stay so that I can make it to heaven when I die 70 years from now. And many more thoughts like these go through the mind of the S.A. trying to justify his position of staying in the system. They have a relationship with the devil in a system designed and taught, is supposed to be a relationship with a God of love. But it is a love they never seem to find.

In the S.A. system, the performance is more important than anything. How one acts brings about what one gets from the system and the internal goings on of the believer, does not come into play. Look good on the outside while you die within. Love, respect and acceptance is earned by doing and living up to standards, rules and regulations of the church system and those that run it. The more they are obeyed, the greater and closer your walk with God is. Thou art holy by the outward appearance of your walk. The resultant actions bring upon the walk of perfection in the flesh. Dress right, do right and have everyone believe you are right on the outside means that you are close to God. Inside you're dying Spiritually.

This perfectionism placed upon you brings about you demanding perfection from those around you, as well. They must be as perfect as you, or they are backslidden. And this perfectionism runs further, for you must seek the approval of others in all that you do, so as to be reassured that you do not slip into a backslidden state. So each judges the other from without, while each is struggling to maintain a close walk with God, within.

And so the S.A. lives a life behind a mask of a clown. Without he smiles and gives the right impression that all is well, while within he lives a life of fear, confusion, pain and often hatred for the same God who he once felt loved him, but who now has become a God that will destroy him should he leave the system.

The S.A. lives in a system of idolatry and manipulation. His idol is a God of appearance, impressions and deception. It's in what things look like and of what people think of him and the power play of authority. He has given up his worship to the God he wishes to love, for the god of pseudo-power and false authority. Their god is one of an impossible - to - please judge whose disposition towards them is based on them and their works. They worship the performance. Give their all for the performance and this becomes their life. It is a performance based faith towards a performance based God. The Idol of Performance over the reality of Grace.

The S.A. is manipulated by powerful glances, unspoken rules, jesters and codes designed to keep them in line with the performance required by the system and its authorities. This idolatry and manipulation has the effect of the high need to control ones thoughts, feelings and behaviours of self and others. It gives a distorted image of the true God. They become people pleasers and not God worshippers. With this comes an untruthful outlook towards others, for they never know what the other believes about them and their walk with God. Paranoia set in and a mistrust of God as well. And the confusion, pain and suffering continues.

The greatest weapon, the Abuser has, is the Word itself. The Letter of the Law is his sword and the Spirit of the Word is his sworn enemy. Without the letter, there is no pseudo-power and no pseudo-authority over the laity. Without this authority they so admire and work for, their ego is deflated and they become nothing in their own eyes and in the eyes of those they wish to impress. The director cannot direct the play and the desired Oscar is never attained.

How does this occur? One reason is the mindset of the laity. They have been taught and believe, that they have little or no capacity to discern and understand the Word nor the mind of God for themselves. They are told that when the Spirit of Truth is come, He will teach you ALL things, BUT only through the discernment and authority of the leadership. The laity cannot hear the truth of the Word without the interpretation of the Apostle, Prophet, or Pastor.

This great Word of the Lord, does not become a word of transformation into the image of the God they love, but a word of set rules and regulations designed and interpreted by man, to illicit a performance for the pleasure of said man. Spirituality is replaced by manipulation. As a result, the laity - the abused - views authority as having the last word in a matter, because they, and they alone have reached some higher realm in Christ. By having reached this plateau of spiritual superiority, they have somehow "earned" the "right" to BE IN authority over the believer.

Because they have "earned" this "right" by their works, others must do the same in order for them to come higher into God. The problem is that the laity, for the most part, can never reach this plateau, for to do so would make the laity as the authority, and those in power can never let that happen. To be equal in every way, with God, is not in the plan of the egoistic authorities, for who, then, would they be the authority over? So the right of passage into the higher realms of God are kept from the laity. The complete truth that they can come before the throne of God, for themselves and hear directly from Him, is kept from them, or must, at least, be interpreted by said authority.

A sentient being is asked if she can play a certain game of cards with her husband. The husband replies I don't believe you are allowed to do so. She exclaims that there is nothing wrong with playing this game as far as she understands. It is just a game of cards. But she will ask her authority. That evening, she comes back and says that the Pastor said she cannot play cards for they represent devilish things of gambling. So the husband and his wife have now another activity that they cannot share with each other. Her authority figure and spiritual interpreter has given his council on the Word of God. And she obeys. She has given over her trust for what God's will is for her, to another man, instead of trusting in what she can receive directly from the Lord. Thus, in a small way, the mindset of the laity is once more used and controlled by the power postures through the use of the letter of the Word.

This power posturing is used to create religious performances by the abused, to meet the needs of the pseudo-leadership. And the motive is to prove that they and they alone are right and have the truth, which they control at the detriment of the laity. The motive is not to feed the flock of God, but to build their ego of self-righteousness in their belief of their correctness of doctrine. All other doctrines, but theirs, are doctrines of devils and do not have the correct interpretation of the Word and the Gospel of Christ. It is not to assist the believer in a closer walk with their God, in a personal relationship or in what God would have for the believer. If fact, God's will for them, is often usurped by the power posturing of the abuser, so as to maintain that power, for his ego and pride. So the abused receives a distorted perception of the God they want, so desperately, to love and serve, only to become one who is created in the image of the abuser. The abuser thus perpetrates the race of abusers. His disciples make disciples of others. Kind after kind and the cycle remains unbroken.

By the use of power posturing, the authority wants to produce fruit after his kind, but Scripture tells us that neither the believer, nor the power postures can produce fruit. The believer BEARS the fruit that the VINE produces. The fruit is a product of the Christ within, not the authority without. It is an inward product that bears an outward result. Those that wish to prune the Vine often kill the branches and the fruit it bears for they have no understanding of what makes the branch produce the fruit. They see the outside and judge what is happening from an outward appearance and do not know the internal Water needed to bear the desired fruit. So instead of feeding the branches with the Water of the Word, they kill it with the Letter of the Law. The Scriptures that were supposed to be used to bring the believer closer to God, is used against the lover of the Word, to bring condemnation, guilt, sorrow, pain, confusion and misguidance. All for the love of power, prestige and position unto the Preacher.

It becomes increasingly difficult for the believer to live up to a bar that keeps moving higher and higher and to bear the fruit of the Spirit, when no Life giving Water is supplied. The rallying cry of the Ministry of Abuse, to take up the Cross, becomes the abusers cover to get the followers to take up his agenda to bear his fruit of bigger churches, larger congregations, more performances and an abundance of golden Oscars.

How can one help those who are fearful or do not believe they need help. How does the S.A. come out of Her? Only by the...
