ANGER AND VIOLENCE
[WHY SEPARATION MAY BE NECESSARY]
BY: SUNNY ORLY COFFMAN
1] WHEN ANGER EXISTS IT IS VERY DESTRUCTIVE
Prov. 22:8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity and the rod of his anger shall fail.
Don’t fear a man with an angry spirit. You have authority to bind the spirit. There is no eternal seed in anger. He
shall be destroyed by his own anger. Anger releases poison like the venom of a viper. If you find yourself getting
angry, then you know that the venom is having an affect on you. There may be an open area in your own soul.
Perhaps pride or self esteem are being attacked.
Psa. 37:8 I have called My righteous since days of old to cease from anger and forsake wrath.
Since this relationship is bringing out anger in you, you not only need to war against your pride and self-esteem
problem, but may need to forfeit the relationship.
2] WHEN SCORN EXISTS – THERE IS ALSO MUCH PAIN
Prov. 22:10 Cast out the scorner and contention shall go out - yeah strife and reproach shall cease.
This relationship has been full of contention. Much strife has arisen both in the relationship as well with family and
friends and much reproach has come as well. A Spirit of scorn will scorn authority and mock leadership and "do
his own thing." It breaks down respect for leadership - be it prophet, priest, or king. When scorn seeks to cause
unrest in your mind and reproach on your life - CAST HIM OUT!
3] IF YOU ARE CHOSEN FOR LEADERSHIP
You must set an example. You cannot control your words or actions unless you allow God to train and discipline
you.
Perhaps the will in the other party has never been broken - he may have received no discipline as a child and now
refuses correction and discipline. which have power to change character and life.
4] GET OUT OF THE RELATIONSHIP NOW
Prov. 22:24-25 Make no friendship with an angry man and with a furious man thou shalt not go, lest thou learn
his ways and get a snare to thy soul.
Anger is contagious. If someone has revealed an angry spirit toward you, how can you trust that person? You are foolish if you try to cultivate or renew a relationship with a person who has once been violently angry toward you. Just because they are sweet and friendly now does not mean they will stay that way.
The Word of God has warned you. Tomorrow that person may kill you with his anger. You have been warned by
God Himself.
5] DON’T EVEN TALK ON THE TELEPHONE!
Prov. 23:9 Speak not in the ears of a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
How do you know the person is a fool? By past conduct. He has been deceitful and treacherous. He has turned against you and been unfaithful. Stop trying to counsel and correct. Instead, pray for him that he will repent, confess his wrong, and turn away from it.
Never try to counsel headstrong people who think they know more than you. You will only be mocked and
thought a fool.
