WORDS OF LIFE

BY: SUNNY ORLY COFFMAN - OCTOBER, 1999

God created man to be an eternal being. Death was not part of that plan. Yet because of man’s lack of obedience, death came to have dominion in these flesh bodies. God spoke through Jesus and told us "I have come that you may have life, and that you may have it more abundantly." (John 10:10)

As I walked through a serious test of my own faith in 1997, a friend called me. She said she had been praying for me and the Lord gave her some scriptures to share with me to help build up my faith to believe for my own healing. I would like to share these with you for the same purpose.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue. (Proverbs 18:21) God wants us to speak things that he can be in agreement with rather than speaking death, sickness, and defeat over ourselves continually.

The sting of death is sin and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable.....(I Cor. 15:56-58). God wants us to walk in such harmony and communion with him that we have no fear, even of death. He made the way for us to be totally reconciled with him through the death, burial, and resurrection of his son, Jesus Christ. When we accept Jesus as our savior and then as Lord of our life, we have the assurance of eternal presence with God, so death holds no concern for us.

Jesus said...."I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me. (John 14:6) Jesus is the only open door to a close communion with our heavenly father. But when we have walked through that door by accepting Jesus as our savior, receiving the sacrifice he made for the atonement of our own sins, and choosing Christ as the Lord of our lives, we are complete in Him. God sees us as complete because of the shed blood of Jesus, not because of our "works." We can do nothing to earn eternal life... Jesus did it all for us.

I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the lord. (Psalm 118:17) this is a statement our father can agree with and bless us because of our declaration of it, in faith. He has promised he will raise us up... that death has no sting over us once we are truly born again.

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death. (Proverbs 10:2) righteousness - in right standing with God. Rebellion never pays any dividends. The Lord says that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. (I Samuel 15:23) so, if we want to stay in right standing with our heavenly father, we must:

1) Seek him often

2) Wait for him to speak

3) Listen to what he has to say

4) Obey his instructions. He desires obedience, not sacrifice.

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey his voice, and that you may cling to him, for he is your life and the length of your days. (Deuteronomy 30:19). Our decisions do set our course. We choose life when we choose Jesus Christ to be our savior and our lord. He opens the door to totally restored fellowship for us with our heavenly father. Only then can we become complete within ourselves... able to stand before God whole in him... a true son of God... yielding all of our members to Him completely that He might manifest through us at His choosing. Then and only then can His plan for us become complete.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalms (116:15) God looks on the death of one of His saints as a day of victory. They have now been totally liberated from the prison of their flesh and released freely into the spirit realm to spend eternity in the presence of our Heavenly Father. But do not be deceived. We do not have to wait for death to come knocking on our door to have perfect fellowship with our Heavenly Father right now... here on planet earth. He desires total restoration for us. He desires the same fellowship He had with Adam and Eve prior to their disobedience. God would join them in the garden in the cool of the evening and walk with them and talk with them.

He desires to talk with you, too! Talk with Him often. Give Him time to respond. Follow His instructions and watch your life change!
